COLOR NAMES NOT SUPPORTED BY MOST BROWSERS

The table below lists color names listed in various books or websites which are not supported by front page. Some browsers may support some of them. The background color of each box in the column on the left was made by using the color name instead of the hex code. The background color of each box in the column on the right was made by using the hexadecimal code for the color name which is listed in each box. If your browser supports any of these color names, the color will be the same in both columns.

If your browser does not support these colors, the browser will try to find the right color by using the letters in the color name as if it was a hexadecimal code. There may be a color in the color name box which makes no sense (click here to see some examples). In other cases, the browser's default color will be used. There is also the possibility that your browser does support the color name, but not the same hexadecimal code listed to the right. In that case the color will be similar to it but not the same.

Click on the hexadecimal codes to see the color page for each color. You may register the color if it has not already been registered. Some of these names may eventually be supported by Front Page and all browsers in the future. Therefore, you may register them but you may not change their names.

If more than one hexadecimal code is listed for a color name, it will be used as an "alternate" hexadecimal code for that name until the discrepancy is resolved. Such discrepancies will be resolved by either the World Wide Web Consortium, by The International Color Name Registry or by those who have registered color names through a voting process.
