HTML EXTENDED COLOR NAMES

The color names listed below are all supported by "Front Page" which is made by Microsoft and is the software many web designers use when building websites. These names are supported by most up to date browsers. Click on the hexadecimal code in the column on the right to see the full details and color analysis of each color. You may also register one of these colors if no one else has registered it yet.

The name of each color was used to make the color of the boxes in the column on the left while the hexadecimal codes were used to make the colors of the boxes in the column on the right. The color should be the same all the way across. If one of  the colors in the color names column isn't the same as the color in the hexadecimal column, then your browser doesn't support that name. If you have an old computer, or an old browser, you may not see many of the colors. Also be sure your monitor is set to it's highest color setting.

Two of the hexadecimal codes listed below  have two different names attached to them. Both Cyan and Aqua use hexadecimal code 00FFFF. However, Cyan seems to be the favored name since when you use the name Aqua in Front Page, the name is changed to Cyan. Likewise, the hexadecimal code FF00FF may be used with either Fuchsia or Magenta. However, Fuchsia seems to be the favored name since when you use the name Magenta in Front Page, the name is changed to Fuchsia.

Therefore, there are actually only 137 different colors but 139 different names. We hope to clear up these discrepancies so that only one name goes with each hexadecimal code. We hope to convince the World Wide Web Consortium to standardize the use of color names for HTML and to use our database of color names and hex codes when they do so.
